Subservice @ the BUNKER! feat Sebastian Bayne
Saturday 18th of october see the return of Subservice after a longer than planned period. However we assure you it'll be worth the wait.
This month our special guest is Sebastian Bayne.Coming from the 'journey' school of DJing, Sebastian is a believer in the idea that behind every great performance is a transferal of energy between the crowd and the DJ. He likes to play a number of styles in one set - not pronounced like Laurent Garnier or big tune like Pete Tong - in a subtle way melding the hypnotic side of techno, minimal, tech house and electro.
This style was formed when Sebastian was resident at two of Beijing's most infamous clubs playing five hour sets, warming up or finishing for all manner of guest DJs and always playing to a international crowd with different tastes.
Best recognised for his part in pioneering electronic dance music in Beijing and mainland China, Sebastian spent four years working in Beijing from 2000-4. He held a coveted residency at Club VOGUE (or 88 as the Chinese referred to it) where he played with many fantastic DJs including: Laurent Garnier; Derrick May and Adam Freeland. After VOGUE closed, his boss Henry Li opened another venue called The CLUB, where Sebastian was again resident. The CLUB became 'the' late night haunt in Beijing where other DJs, producers and punters would come and listen to the five hour sets Sebastian played each Friday.
While in China Sebastian also co-organise and was billed at the two most publicised Great Wall parties featuring Global Underground and Paul Oakenfold. He enjoyed playing regularly at the PLUS techno parties with the likes of Technasia, Ken Iishi, Shin Nishimura and Mickey Zhang. Sebastian also hosted his own Elektrobeat parties with his then DJ partner, Usami; together they brought with the likes of We Love ..., Zouk and Slinky to Beijing.
Sebastian made his mark in Australia where he started his professional DJ career debuting at the infamous Happy Valley festival in 2000. He was also known for his regular guest appearances at one of Sydney's most respected club nights, Tech-ni-kal @ The Chinese Laundry. Sebastian worked as an editor of dance music magazine 3D World and was a freelance contributor to many other publications.
As a Dj he has supported acts as varied as Christian Smith, Dr Kucho!, Paul Godfey, Morcheeba, Technasia, Ken Iishi, Shin Nishimura, Detroit greats Juan Atkins, Carl Craig and Claude Young, Josh Wink, Nick Warren and Paul Oakenfold.
As a producer he has released 12" on Labels such as Cliq, Kisu, and Hypnotic room.
Sebastian will be Supported on the night by the Rifraf, Den Williams, Defined By Rhythm and Chris Combe

DAF present SUBSONIC MUSIC this Week End
DAF present :
Subsonic Music an Australian label based in Sydney. Founded in 2007 after almost a decade of promoting events and touring artists, the label was formed to continue to seek out fresh ideas with electronic production. The thought sense behind the parties we have produced in the past was to bring the killer shit to people in Sydney and Australia. Now with our label, Subsonic Music, we hope to take this shiz to the ears of every corner of the globe.
With so much goin on in the world of music, Subsonic is all about seeking out, and releasing innovative music. From influences spanning techno, electro, minimal, progressive, psychedelic and more, our aim will be to release quality tunes but without limiting ourselves to any specific genre. What really tickles our fancy are those genre busting tunes that break out of the stereotypical classifications that we have grown accustomed to hearing so much about in the dance world. If the music is the goods, we want to know about it so we can let others know about it. For more about our events, tours and label, check us at www.subsonicmusic.com.au

This Sunday Deep As Fu*k is throwing a twelve hour extravaganza, headlined by Phonique(Berlin), across the two rooms of Mr. Mary's hotel in Redfern. The new venue has an outdoor courtyard to go with the cool interior and of course the essential: a cranking soundsystem. Bringing together some of Sydney's premier crews the party will be a celebration of the sounds of the underground and will showcase some of our leading local underground DJs to go with one of dance music's elite. Expect a mix of hip hop, dub and disco and of course deep house, minimal and techno as Deep As Fu*k cuts through the winter lull with a cracking party located away from the human zoo that is Kings X. In the countdown to Earthdance come and relax and take in the tunes and the sun and get down when we up the bpm when day turns to night. Devoid of pretention this event will be all about great tunes and a great vibe - and the debauchery that goes with these things naturally!
Saturdays at Bunker heating up!!!
For those of you who didn't know, Saturdays at Bunker have been heating up in the past months as DeepAsFunk has decided to collaborate with some of Sydney's finest underground crews to keep the night as the hottest undergound weekly Saturday night. DAF will now be held weekly in collaboration with respectable crews such as Beef, Colour, Subsonic, Deep Impressions, Subservice & T-Quest.
Of course this means more diversity in the club from week to week but all will fall under the general underground minimal/techno/tech-house genre that DeepAsFunk specialises in. All the djs playing have been DAF guests in the past so expect the vibe that you are accustomed to as well as the familiar faces in the crowd. Plus there's always at least one of your favorite DAF resident Dj's playing and don't forget the monthly special International guest nights where we've brought to you artists such as Gui Boratto, Phil Kieran & Antix where the line up is always exclusively DAF resident DJs.
If you are in Tokyo this weekend, come check out djRifRaf playing Sat 29th @ the Ultra Lounge grand opening @ Roppongi, and Sunday @ Sounds on Sunday @ Oath club in Shibuya!

DAF & SUBSONIC present D-NOX THIS SAT 7TH JUNE
After smashing weekend with brothers from NZ - Fiord aka Antix we are gearing up for even bigger weekend!
This weekend is long - so if you planning on D-Nox, be patient - save yourself!
Now - we've moved for a one-off at the Cross Hotel this weekend, which is the same building as the Bunker, but larger space made up of several different rooms so it will be a massive party! Huge line-up of dj's playing from minimal to prog, from disco to electro, from deep to detroit house - all is there.. and we must mention that it will be very psychedelic too!
Now you also must know that this year in the electronic music world - beatport.com is the biggest and the best online store! Well - at the awards in 2008 we have some interesting results.. and honestly - we didnt plan it - we booked these artists well before we knew how popular they were!!!..
Gui Boratto - Nr2 techno and electronica
D-Nox & Beckers - Nr3 prog house
Phonique - Nr1 deep house.. guess why did we mention this name>???
So new additions to our line-up are:
Shade of Gray - click here to realize how a local act is going off in the world music scene..
U-One from Melbourne, a man behind the LAB parties - click here to see more about him
Also log on our myspace and check some fresh tracks from Shade of Gray, RifRaf, Deepchild and others.. www.myspace.com/deepasfunk
The last thing to say is - come early to get in for cheaper and at the same time to listen to other dj's who are not as "famous" but are really good and play unique music!
Check us more frequently for updates.. as Deep As Funk will be launching a new family enterprise - a joint venture with almost all the techno, minimal and prog crews working in Sydney! Every weekend you will get a party of your life!
FIORD aka ANTIX - live @ the BUNKER
Firstly - click here and check the pictures from the recent party with New Yorks outfit RubnTug
Somewhere back in the late 1990’s brothers Barton and Hayden Strom, fresh faced and with a love for electronic music, formed the soon to be world famous outside NewZealand – ANTIX. Iboga Records in Denmark got whiff of the Antix sound and promptly signed the two brothers who then produced their landmark debut album “Lull” in 2003. The album won over fans and critics alike, ticking all boxes with the media and generating a string of killer live performances. The brothers were building a solid reputation as one of the most indemand progressive acts on the planet. The touring trend followed as the boys started clocking in big festival dates to crowds in excess of 10,000 and performed in some of the most respected clubs worldwide. Quite possibly New Zealand’s most well traveled artists after performing live in over 25 countries over the past 7 years.
Now the boys are evolving above and beyondthe scene pumping out deep minimal and tech-house tunes, again establishing themselves on the world stage. Anyone who attended last year's performance at LadyLux will know that the new Fiord live set is not to miss and will more than satisfy any one from the ex-diehard trancer to the Versace pushing gogo dancer putting NewZealand on the map again.

Sean Candy, Jodee at the Bunker
We have some bad news to announce. Our favorite and the only really underground venue Abercrombie has been shut down by Australian government.
However no one gonna stop us to do what we love doing and we will go our best to find out venue with similar significant vibe as Abercombie. As you can imagine, underground and electronic music open minded venues are getting very hard to find and run in NSW, so in the meanwhile we will focus on putting on quality parties at the Bunker bar (Kings Cross).
This Saturday we are having Jodee on a bill who played for us killer set two weeks ago. Then Sean Candy who is a living legend on a world wide didgeridoo scene. Supported by Stompy, Schwa, RifRaf and Marcotix.
If you like it fat and funky, deep and bassey, dj Sean Candy delivers a diverse mix of dance tunes, from Eclectic Electric House, Tech-Psy-Funk, to driving fat breaks. Alongside mixing, he plays sliding didj with delay FX to create a unique cyber didj, dance soundscape experience.
He has rocked dance floor's across the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and South America, playing at events such as BurningMan, Splendour in the Grass, Exodus, Rainbow Serpent, Symbiosis (California), Shambhala (Canada), Eclipse festivals (Hungary,Zambia and OZ) Fuji Rock, Vision Quest, Solstice (Japan), EarthDance (Brazil,Japan,OZ) just to name a few.
He has been producing dance beats for over 10 years with various projects. Collaborations with Slot Machine, an electro punk band with DJ Nick Taylor and electronic world fusion band Ganga Giri. He won the 2005 Music Oz Awards in the dance category, and is recognized for his eclectic sounds and danceworthy grooves.

This Saturday BUTANE @ the Bunker
We are very proud to announce that Butane, owner of Alpha House records will be playing for us at this Saturday the Bunker exclusive 2 hour set.
Always one to rely on his talents for success rather than shameless promotional methods, Andrew remains increasingly busy on the international DJ circuit. His touring schedule in the past year has included gigs in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Cape Town, Moscow, Mexico City, London, Budapest, Rome, Barcelona, Detroit, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, among many others. Rave reviews of his sets continue to pour in from underground outposts around the globe.
A skilled and imaginative DJ on the decks, Andrew uses vinyl, Final Scratch, samplers, effects, and all other tools available to craft his sets. Plenty of experience in clubs enables him to move bodies while simultaneously keeping a distinctly heady vibe. Technically gifted with an ear for deepness, and not afraid to take the crowd where they need to go, he can play appropriately for any time or setting. Because he prides himself on his musical range, expect anything from seamlessly blended groovy, sexy, peak-time techno to warm, deep, cerebral house music.
